Hi -

Been lurking around a bit and looks like a pretty good group.

Got my Mopar back on the road last year (original purchase date 1979 +/-):

1974 Dodge Charger SE (sorta)

Factory black (repainted)

1969 440 (Six-pack block), 30 over, B&B, ported heads, Isky Cam/valve train, Edlebrock Torker, Holley 850, Mopar Orange box ignition, Hooker headers, 727 (modified, /w manual valve body), 3.23 posi rear. Usual add on "stuff" and she's still a work in progress.

Better tell ya now, anything I know is based on 1970s/80s technology, so might be a little behind the times

Tks,

Archer

Welcome, nice charger! I'm a young mopar maniac (21). lol Speakin of which you guys should see some of the looks I get when I drive my chally. Of course you get the guys from age 0-35 usually have a dropped jaw when they see it. But for some reason alot of guys 35+ just give me some dirty mean looks lol. They are just jealous I'm guessing. Or think a guy my age shouldn't own a car like that. I'm not one of the stupid ones that gets my self into major debt for a new pickup thats gonna be old news in a couple months like they are/were.;)

Hey guys -

Thanks for the warm welcome! The Charger has been sitting in Brooklyn for about 25 years (don't ask). Finally got it back out last year. The motor is on its second rebuild, and except for the engine color (it was originally black), it looks the same way it did when we first dropped in the big block in '82. (It started off with a 318 and after a few years working on that, figured it was time to go "bigger".) Sure is a kick driving it again! (Do I sound a little excited???)

Could use a new coat of paint and a little freshening up of the interior, but I'll get to than in time and I'll be asking for suggestions!!!

Here's how she looked in 82 :)

My mom's garage in Gravesend, (near Bensonhurst)

Don't know if you remember or heard of the old East Coast Street Machines club, we used to meet on Thursday nights in the Caesar's Bay parking lot on Bay Parkway - early 80's.

Cool. It had died out for a while, good to hear it's back. Humm, must get pretty crowded. We used Thursdays because the "mall" was closed and the parking lot almost empty.

Like to make it there one night, but you know what the traffic is like on the Belt :(

on good nights, you get about 100 cars
on dead nights, 5-10
if its warm out, it'll be a good night

WOW! back in the 70's, 10-15 cars there was a "good" night!

As the weather gets warmer, ya gotta take a ride out to the Bellmore LIRR train station, that's one of the bigger ones on "the Island". Gotta get there early though, fills up pretty fast!

If you can make it out this year, give me a shout, we can hook up. Not that many Mopars, so we tend to stick together.

Archer.
