65 cuda issues

Hello all.
I have my dad's 65 cuda that is in pretty good shape. Needs some polish. He wasn't a mechanic by any stretch. He had a pretty bad stroke and in order to keep him at home my mom needs to sell it and another classic to help off set the cost of home care. Now on to the issue.
It will not shift into gear while running, just grinds when you have the clutch pressed in and try to shift it. If I kill the motor and put it in gear it will lurch forward when I try to turn it over. I am moderately mechanically inclined, i work on my own cars, truck and bike and I have some buddies more than happy to lend a hand. I need some advice with trouble shooting and anything else you guys and possibly gals have to offer up. I just got the car to my house yesterday so I have not had a real chance to dive in. Just wanted to join the page and get this out there to start making some buddies in this world. I am in south carolina in case that was a question anyone had. Hope to get the conversation started and looking forward to hearing from you all.

Sounds like the clutches is out of adjustment or there's problems with the linkage, it could also be in the throw out bearing or presser plate.

Yea, the throw out bearing was a thought. I don't know about clutch adjustment. How would I adjust it? Do you mean adjust the linkage? The bearing hasn't made any noise that I have heard or know of.

I Agree.... Sounds like a Clutch system issue... Pull the flywheel inspection cove and have a look to see if there is lots of signs of metal. of so you will need to replace the parts.
