Turbo II: 2.2l, intercooled, 174 HP, 1987-1993 Most common in the Daytona, best parts availablity Turbo III: 2.2l DOHC 16 valve, 224 HP, 1991-93 (IROC and RT only) Lotus designed the head and Maserati manufactured the engines for Chrysler; 1991 engines are known for head cracking. Replacement heads are difficult to find and prohibitively expensive. Turbo IV: 2.2l, intercooled, Variable Nozzle Technology, 25 ft/lbs increase over Turbo II, noted as being unreliable (CSX only) Forward Motion is THE company to deal with if you're building a G-body (or any other FWD chrysler. They have all kinds of goodies for normally aspirated or Turbocharged 2.2 & 2.5 engines, 2.0 and 2.4l SOHC and DOHC motors (including the A855 2.4 Turbo) and even for the 3.0l SOHC. |
t1 was made after 1986, and good luck inter-cooling a t1 with the stock garrett turbo and old intake, there are a few other differences. vnt was also offered in other vehicles other than the csx.
