Transmission dies after 19k miles
Has anyone dealt with transmissions issues on a 25 month old car with 19k miles? I am trying to figure out how it died so fast.

What vehicle and what transmission?

I have no familiarity with any hi-bread vehicles but modern transmission systems can fail for mechanical or electronic reasons abuse or neglect.

I doubt my wife using her van for doctor appointments, errands, and the occasional road trip would be considered abuse or neglect, but maybe it is for a Chrysler. It has spent a lot of time in the shop unfortunately.

I can't argue that. Parts fail... just usually not with less than 20k miles. I had a Yugo in the 90's that lasted 120k miles before the first problem happened and I abused the crap out of that car. Lol

Unfortunately there are a lot of reported issues with those transmissions and cars themselfs.... Lemon Law lawsuits ran high on those cars...

I wish this car still qualified for Lemon Law in my state. I would do it if it did.

I'll kind of go out on a limb here......
It mite do you some good to call Jasper and to talk too them or one of their techs about the issue's, Not sure they are going to make you feel any better, But you may get the straight scoop on weather it is worth fixing the van or not. Its only a phone call away and a little time on the phone... And if they answer a few of your question, you can make them think the talk was not a waste of time by asking if they have or know of a Jasper installer center near you? Whats the worst they can tell you? Go kick Rocks? Good Luck... Keep us posted.... :) |
You said it died. That's a bit broad in definition so it's almost impossible to guess what happened. If it's not moving in any direction, it could be something as simple as a shift actuator or trans pump. May have not been filled properly from the factory or even developed a leak causing loss of pressure.
