Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 31st annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jeff Diehl Runs 5.349/148.20, Now #1
5:31 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 24.16 inches, adjusted altitude 9,632 feet, track temperature 101 degrees.
Diehl struck the tires at about 400 feet.
Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 6.975/99.39, Now #3
Right Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 5.351/137.05, Now #2
Pedregon lost traction just before the 330-foot mark. Arend started fishtailing at half track and he lifted.

Wyatt was wiggling around and he was off the throttle at about 500 feet.

Pedregon was up in smoke at about 200 feet. A very good looking pass for Worsham and he moves to the top of the ladder for now.

A good looking pair, although they weren't side-by-side going down the track. Hagan took almost 2 seconds to leave after the tree went green.

Pedregon pedaled it once at about 250 feet and then his engine went silent. A very good looking pass for Force and he takes the top spot on the ladder by virtue of having run a faster speed than Worsham.

Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 5.710/118.42, Now #14; No Prior Run
3:25 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 24.35 inches, adjusted altitude 9,115 feet, track temperature 114 degrees.
Both drivers had traction troubles just before half track with Lee staying on the throttle for a tick longer than Day.
James Day's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.534, 660ft-3.790/173.76 mph.
Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.544, 660ft-3.976/152.00 mph.

Left Lane: Jack Wyatt No Time, Now #16; No Prior Run
5:25 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 24.32 inches, adjusted altitude 8,882 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.
Wyatt did a burnout, backed up, and he was shut off at the line before attempting to stage.
Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 6.827/97.95, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.710/118.42, Was #15
Lee was skating around on the launch and he was off the throttle before the 330-foot mark.
Left Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 4.362/225.37, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.267/290.44, Was #10

Left Lane: Jack Wyatt No Time, Now #16; No Prior Run
5:25 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 24.32 inches, adjusted altitude 8,882 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.
Wyatt did a burnout, backed up, and he was shut off at the line before attempting to stage.

Lee was skating around on the launch and he was off the throttle before the 330-foot mark.
