270 Dart Restoration

5 Attachment(s)
I just recently got my hands on my first Mopar car. It is a 1963 Dart with the 270. She is in bad shape and needs a complete restoration. Wondering if there are any catologs for new parts. Like an LMC catolog of some sort. Surprisingly enough, she had the key in. I have no clue if she starts up or not. Need to get her home first to get fiddle with the hood so it can open. Thanks for the help.

how did you get the car?

Spotted it on the side of the road. Asked the owner whose lot it was on what he was doing with it. He wound up losing interest in the project and got another one.

How's the floor/frame ? Not trying to kill your buzz but it looks like it's in the weeds.

Haha. and you're exactly right. It is also about 6 inches away from water. I knocked on the floor boards. seemed solid. Carpet seemed to fuze to the metal. Ill have to lift her up and give her the full inspection when she comes home. only real issue I saw with the metal was the rear fenders

good luck with the project

Yeah, I suppose it will be a trial of determination and dedication, just another hobby of mine. If the frame checks out solid, and I give the go ahead with this project, I'll make a build up/restoration thread.

No luck on finding a catolog that has replacement/upgraded headlights, tailights, grilles, bumpers, door handles, door panels etc...? I highly think that finding replacement parts off of another parts car will be next to impossible in Alaska. Interior work, I can manage to do myself with some fiber glass and such. Just curious. Thanks

Check out millsupply.com they have 63 Dart body metal.

quick question, do you mean the engine is a 270?

Zink 05-14-2009 02:37 AM

I suppose it is. I havnt read up on my dodge material to be certain. But on the car the hood has a 270 emblem, and she also has "Two Seventy" (written out like that) emblems on the sides

Just popped the hood, it is a 225, wich makes the possibility of her being a 63 quite probable. Can't find any information as to what the 270 means, possibly a package upgrade?

Zink 05-14-2009 05:04 PM

Not too sure if the year I wrote is correct. Being how the front grille, headlights, and tailights match that of a 63, the 270 was not available till 64' I believe. The previous owner does not have a title for it so I am waiting for the DMV to do their work to get full information. The car should be arriving tomorrow at the shop, then I can get the hood up and run a vin# analisys.
