318 question

I have a 1981 Dodge W150. It has a 2 barrel intake, if I get a 4 barrel adapter and 4 barrel carburetor would it make a difference?

Better to get the rite manifold and the correct linkage..... I agree... Save your money.

Mike -

Well, maybe...

Will it make any real difference, maybe a little, and if you don't have a lead foot, you'll get better mileage, assuming you pick the right size carb, of course.
The real reason to do that, would be because bucks are tight, and you can start with the carb and get the manifold a little later, but again, lets be real, 318 manifolds aren't that expensive, especially if you look at the used market.

Unfortunately, the carb/manifold swap is only the first step, then headers, cam, etc.

Since yall are talking about carbs. My brother in law has an 83 318 with electric choke but the electric part doesnt work, is there a way to rig it to make it manual?

Sorry, its a 2 barrel

RacerHog 04-29-2019 05:48 AM

Check the power to the choke thermostat. If it's not getting voltage, then the resister may be bad and need replacing.

Getting 0 voltage. Ill go ahead and see if an autoparts store has one when i get off work later

RacerHog 04-29-2019 06:03 AM

Before you buy one... Make sure you have voltage/power to the timer first. Might not be hooked up for some reason? Or maybe the feed/power wire is broken?
