dont the windows of that year have the rubber rope going around the gasket? if it does pull that out, then you gotta pull the rubber back as you push on the windsheild then get something to go between the rubber and windsheild and run it around the edge, i have used screw drivers caution tho the metel could shattter it fast,, try plastic trim removel tools insted

Get a new gasket for the install, it will go so much easier and less likely to leak. That 47 year old gasket is probably a bit dry by now.

Hey Brian ,it is very easy to install the rear window ,you need the rope that fits into the rubber channel ,then i put some dish soap around the rubber were the rope is .At the top of the glass cross the rope like an x drop the bottom in and have someone hold the glass at the top ,and pull the rope slowly makeing sure the rubber is catching the metal. You wont beleive how easy it is and you will save money .When the glass is in tap it all around with the palm of you hand ,but not to hard ,just gentle.I just did my Plymouth .
