Help me fix my poor old 4dr......

Ok, heres my deal , i have a 64 330, slant 6, holley reman 1bbl carb. Started acting like its not getting enough gas. pump it a few times it starts, once its running, it will rev up if I pump the gas, but if I try to hold it steady, it simply dies, unless I pump it a few times. I have rebuilt the carb 2 times thinking I missed something, but it doesnt even change how its runs. EXACTLY the same......

Ive sprayed it down while its running with carb cleaner, but theres no vacuum leaks either in the carb or intake. but thats exactly what its acting like is its running out lean. Im kinda at wits end here. Could the vacuum advance cause an issue lke this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. At this point I dont knwo if the carb is the issue or Im lookin at the wrong thing.

Thanks

Filter plugged ? Pump nfg ? Accel pump on carb nfg ?

TwistedWrenches 03-04-2009 08:39 AM

Seems that the accellerator pump is working cause when I pump it it revs right up, its like the ac. pump is the only thing working. It could i suppose be the filter, BUT in my infinity naiveity I keep telling myself its fine, did a small pressure test SEEMED ok but not sure actual pressure. but it came out of the filter pretty good flow. im not sure if the fuel pump could cause such a problem, anyone ever had a similar experience from an older car ? Ill replace the filter today just to be sure, but im highly doubting that will take care of it.
