Oil pump rotation direction?

Oil pump rotation direction?
Iv got my 318 nearly finished. Before I put the Intake manifold on I want to run my oil pump with an electric drill. To confirm it works, and to get a little lubercation goin. Which way do I rotate it if I am looking down on the engin from above the dist.? In theory the crank turns one way (clockwise from the front?) wich through the chain turns the cam the same direction. The cam then via gear drive rotates the distributer shaft which also rotates the oil pump. Thus the oil pump rotates in the opposite dirrection of the crank assuming you look at crank from front and oil pump from above. Is that correct?
But most importantly... which way does the pump turn from above? I just made a tool to chuck in my drill which i ground a 3/8 hex on the end to engage the pump.

hey silver, the pump rotation goes like this, the dist. drive goes down into the pump. so pump rot. is the same as dist. rot. right. so i use this saying when working on my mopes on dist. rot. small block like a clock, big block, counter clock.hope this helps.
