POR 15
 

Has anyone used POR 15 before?
Can it be applied over painted surfaces or surfaces that aren't rusted? I heard it might peal off.

Maybe I'm confused, but I think there are different products?

I used the stuff meant for salvaging fuel tanks, and it's like concrete (in a tractor.) I used battery acid to etch out the rust, and it worked great.

Yes, that is the company. I'm not sure though, if their "rust preventive" product is the same as the gas tank stuff. The paint when I finally applied it is a silvery gray and dries hard like concrete. It certainly fixed up my gas tank woes

I used it on my "Cleota" or "Toyotrac", a Oliver/ Cletrac with Toyota 20R and 4 speed, Massy Harris sheet metal

I had used it years back on the underside of my Camaro. It peeled off. But maybe I didnt prepare it right. There are so many new products out there that I wouldnt know where to start. I like what I read from some of the Eastwood products, but they are pricey, and usually someone offers the identical product, but cheaper. I have found some "professional body repair" forums have some great info!

There are multiple products made by POR-15. There isn't just one. You gotta follow the instructions to a "T" otherwise it may peel off like some people are saying. I believe it can be used on painted surfaces but you might as well just go to their website and do your research to see what one(s) you can or cannot use on painted surfaces.

I've used the stuff for many years and I like it a lot. The only problem I've ever heard of is if you paint over it, make sure you scuff it real good. It's not easy to do 'cause the stuff gets rock hard. I think the first time I bought this stuff the guy was selling it out of the trunk of his car.

yeah por-15 is great but a pain in the ass to paint over without bad results.
