Seats

Hi all, new to this and always looking for friendly help. I have an 85 D series I've been working to restore and among the few parts that are impossible to find around my area are seats. I can't find them anywhere so I got it in my head to try installing seats from a newer model truck. Figure it might involve replacing everything, tracks mounts, but I have the tools, just want to know if anyone has tried it or know what might fit or might not fit.

Never in an 85 but did a bench to custom seats in an 82 F@rd. All I did was cut the feet from the old bench off and bolted them the the cab. Use .125 1 inch tube stock to lay horizontally across cab and used very nice leather heated seats from boneyard. Most seats are made similarly and have flat tracks. So the seats can be used in multiple applications and the OEM just have different bolt on feet.

If you want new seats from a SLT Ram or such they should fit. You will need to get creative on a center counsel and may need to pull from different make.

First Welcome. Changed our bench in a 92 D250 single cab to late 90's Ram buckets with the big fold down center. Cutting bolting or welding, if you can, will be needed. A trip to the boneyard with a tape measure is all we did. I will suggest if you have a single cab try for seats with a thin back so you can move it back for leg room.
