water pump and pulleys
I am new to the site and in need of some technical advice. any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 1970 440hp that was in a 1973 dodge power wagon parts truck, i bought the truck mainly for the motor, but needed other parts as well for a father and son 1975 dodge power wagon rebuild. The engine pulleys were misplaced before project was finished on donor truck, I have bought 3 different pulley sets off of e-bay and still the same problem.
The problem is the 2 groove water pump pulleys are hitting the water pump bolts and spacers do not cure the issue. I bought a complete set of aluminum pulleys and brackets from cvf racing still hits the pump bolts. I have the correct housing and water pump installed for a 1975 power wagon which dumps on the passenger side.
My question is does the pump housing or the pump have different depths or styles which would create this issue? Is the nose on a water pump for a 1970 440 longer than the nose on a pump for a 1975 440.
Sorry for the long winded explanation but I just wanted to try to explain all.
