what model of dodge or plymouth car should i look for

i want anything between a 1960-1975 that would be easy to drop a 440 or 383 in. im looking at about 1000-1500 could i get a decent project for that price and eventually get a block? what models would be great for this project?

You might check out countryclassiccars.com for some idea's.

From what I've seen the prices are listed higher on the web site than at the dealership.

60-75 dodge plymouth

Here's a search site for ALL Craigslist. Just type in year and make and lots will come up, hopefully close to you. Type in" 1965 Plymouth" or whatever year or "1970 dodge" or whatever year and you will see many.

'66 & '67 Plymouth Belvederes and Dodge Coronets seem to go for less money than other B bodies and many of them came with big blocks. A perfect fit.

In my humble opinion, about the only car for that money would be a c-body. ( Fury, Polara, Chrysler, full sized cars.) You won't find a convertable but might get lucky with a 2 door. Can pick em up all day long complete and running with the big block for 800 to 2 or 3 grand.
Won't be as easy to make it quick but still fun to own. B-bodies and a-bodies are parts or project cars in that price range and usually it's the body that is bad. Be careful on e-gag and such as I was looking at 1969 Coronets and saw a lot of questionable cars in the 1500 to 5000 range. One guy in Canada had a 1969 Super Bee listed for 1500 BUT it had no windshield and the car pictured had a nice looking dash and was obviously a 68, "Stay away" Looked like he swithced the dash on a rebody and broke the windshield. I doubt it will get across the boarder. I would never trust a rebody to be legal as the body is what gets tittled here in Wisc. Any motor but the vin on the body must match the title. But shop around, as good deals are out there. Good luck in what ever you do and keep us up to date please.

Nobody likes to hear this but, save up your money and buy something solid/something you really want rather than settling for what you can afford now.

Not sure where you're located but the best advice I can give is: when you're looking at a project car there is no such thing as "a little rusty".

you sho'nuff got that right, well said @Rustybeltrodder. I made a similar mistake a few years ago, got into a rush and bought things I didn't need (or even really want, later on).

@Shipma-Save up, some of these cars aren't going anywhere, but if you can't wait, at least consider what can you fix the easiest, are you a mechanical type of guy or can you do body work, do like messing around with wiring/interior stuff? Ask yourself these types of questions. And watch out for the scammers on Craigslist, lots of them out there! Good luck with whatever it is you get, Long Live Mopar!
