360 2bbl carb to a 4bbl carb and intake!
is it possible to change this crappy 2 barrel and intake to a 4 barrel carb and intake,if so what carb and intake should i use! the 360 already has a isky cam in it and crane rockers!

The factory 340 cast iron dual plane is one of the best street manifolds. The 360's are almost the same and very good. I would not eliminate the heat crossover on a street engine.
It would help to know the lift and duration of the cam for carb type and CFM. |
I dont know what the lift and duration the cam is,the previous owner put it in,all i know its an isky cam,im guessing a cam that will go into a factory 360 without doing thing extra to the engine.

Most any 70's era small block manifolds will work as well as most dual plane manifolds from Edelbrock, Holley, etc. For a street mostly car, a small Edelbrock (like about a 600 cfm) 4 barrel would be a good choice. The cam you have is a oldie but goodie (I'm still running an ISKY in my 440). BUT, without knowing the specs, it's really hard to match the carb/manifold. The above recommendation is based on the assumption that the cam is relatively mild, since the previous owner left the 2 barrel on it. Yes, they do (or did) make adapter plates to convert a 2V manifold to a 4V carb, but consider it a last resort. Archer |
Carb size depends on what intake you use, Standard 4bbl i would use a 600-650 cfm carb. If you use one of the later thermoquad manifolds it limits your choice to a TQ which is a great carb if you can find one in decent condition around 700cc ?? or if you can score the big one 800 cfm very adjustable and will work on a HP 360
