400 block,no cracks for 50 bucks! no heads

I have a chance to buy a 400 big block with no heads or intake for 50 bucks, the guy had the block dipped and maganfluxed recently theres no cracks,he wants to make room for a 440 in his garage thats why the price is so low! what kinda heads can i use to start building this block and also the 400 is going in a 1972 satellite that had a 318 in it originally!

I have two no, three of those blocks... Two complete engines and a spare block..... Both engines are set up for racing with Indy 440-1 heads and the matching intakes... These are great low deck engines... Both are making around 750 hp... $50.00 for a good block is a steal.... Not sure what heads will fit for a street version... I'm sure someone on here will have an answer.....

The heads from any big block will work. You could use 906, 915, 452, 516 or similar. Do you have any bigblock heads now? 361 to 440 will work, but some are better than others, some with hardened seats, bigger valves, open or closed chamber etc. Depends what you want and how fat your wallet is.

That frees up alot of money to build a 451 stroker!

If you are building a Hot Rod motor the 400 block is a better starting point.
