440 - cam / ally head questions / stock rockers

Guys
Hope you don't mind me asking a potentially dumb question. *I have bought a set of edelbrock rpm ally heads and a performer plus cam for my stock 440 mopar ('78). I was wondering if there is anyway to check if these will fit with stock rockers / rods. The cam kit says you should fit them with stock rockers but I'm not sure this will be the case with the cam plus heads (this is the mild cam from edelbrock). I really don't have the cash at the moment to go for a fully adjustable rocker set up and therefore wondered if I could have a go trying the stock rockers with the cam plus heads. I figured I could try to measure the valve / rocker clearances of the stock heads and then compare the clearance with the ally heads fitted? It's either that or the stock heads go on and I put the ally heads on the shelf for another day when funds permit an upgrade. Trouble is they look like they need to be fitted
Hope someone can help
Thanks
Alex

Easy enough...use your stock rocker setup, but check you pushrod length. Their instructions probably tell you the same thing. This is assuming that it's a flat tappet hydraulic cam and lifters.

Dont overlook the obvious with your build. Those heads are outstanding and flow close to 300 cfms.. Nice choice.

Clay the piston to make sure there is no valve to piston contact. And set up the valve train and measure your witness marks on the valve tip and look for spring compression and rocker binding.

You will prob need new P rods due to the smaller base circle on the cam but they are short money..

Good Luck.
