57 dodge interchange?
 

can anyone tell me if a 57 d500 cab from a ton truck would be same as a d100 half ton, and what other body parts are the same?

A 1957 D500 was a car. The truck D-series was not started til ~1961 til 1993.

The 1-ton 2wd truck was called a D300/D350 (later years). Most of the 4wd and 2wd cabs were interchangeable as long as the they were in the same generations.

oh ok i was told it a d500 truck but it is a ton or larger. cab and hood i thought were same as half ton?

Dodge did make a D500 truck but it is not the same as the D100-D350 trucks. The D500 and up trucks were more of a commercial truck (heavy duty). They D100-D350 trucks were light-medium duty that normal people would buy and use.

this is a large ton or mabe 2 ton has duel wheels in rear and larger wheel wells in front fenders i want to build a 57 half ton but cant find any, thought i mite start with this cab?

The W500 is actually a 2 ton chassis and cab truck. It is just as different from the D100-D350 cabs. The issue is that the chassis will differe from generation to generation. Because of this, the cab mounts will change. If you are good with measurements and fabricating, you can make anything fit. What you have and what you want to put on (from my understanding) will not be a direct bolt on though. You will need to move and shim some, if not all, of the mounts to get it to fit properly.

I used to drive a '54 D100 with a poly 318 and a granny 4 speed (no synchro into 1st or 2nd) and personally, I think that the actual cabs are the same for the D500 and D100s.

The chassis, suspension and fenders may be different.

The one that I drove was 6 volt, the battery was under the driver's side floorboard and it only had one taillight as that's all that was required.

The sweptside is labelled wrong I think. He has it labelled as a "D" when it should be a "C".

I've got some books at home that talk about the history of dodge. I'll try and go through them over the next couple of nights and see what I can dig up.
