69 Dodge Charger
 

Everybody knows the look of the general lee the famous flag and the 01 my question a friend of ours has a 69 dodge charger 440 six pack orignal #s matching car its orange looks like the general but it dont have the flag or number The car also only has less than 75,000 original mileS. there is no bondo or filler in the car and its flawless

I have a 1967 327 2 speed el camino that is done and a 1972 road runner 340 that is unrestored both in great shape I can get the charger for 12,000 dollars

is it a good idea to sell both of my cars for the charger? THERE IS NO RUST IN THE CHARGER EITHER i think the charger good be worth some $$$$

You have to be kidding. Why are you even asking? You need to get your tail down to the bank right now. do you have ANY IDEA how much true "six pack" cars are really worth?

By the way, there's no such thing as a "General Lee." "It" was NEVER MADE by Dodge, "it" was thrown together by the Horrywood prop people. So when you say "it doesn't have the flags" all that means is, that some kid with a spray gun didn't hose a Confederate flag on what would otherwise be a 'perfectly good' Charger

A "real" six pack car in any body should be worth many tens of thousands of dollars if it's in any kind of runnable shape. Not long ago, an original B body six pack car, with no engine or trans, and certainly not restored, went for several thousand.

Notice that the seller DOES NOT CLAIM that this is an original six pack car, and that makes a huge difference. ARE YOU SURE this is a six pack car? Have you decoded the serial number?


I have to be honest with you. If you have to sell your other cars, you probably aren't in a financial position to deal with this. Properly restoring this car would be very expensive, and if you get done, you'll have to make a decision--can you afford to keep it and store it properly--like money in the bank, or will you have to sell it for a very large amount of money?

the above dilemma is why ALL of us aren't doing this. I once owned several of these types of cars, and now that I'm older and poor, I could not afford to go out, spend 12 grand, then dump, what, another 20-40K into it for restoration, keep it garaged, and live enough to reap the huge investment?

this car is in no need of restoration it has a very nice bright orange flawless body if i told you the real story behind this car you would probably sh** and yes its a true six pack car and yes my buddy doesent drive it the car sits in a garage under a car cover. my buddy wanted 18,000 for it but i can get it for 12,000 because i know him. The general lee i know is just a made up car but i was refering to the general because its the same body style and color and I would sell my other two cars because i couldnt afford to run all three cars ill look into purchaseing it

If that car truely doesn't need to be restored, and is all original, it may be worth between 10 and 20 TIMES what you can buy it for.

oh i was going to tell you the real way the charger fell into my friends hands He was on vacation at Little river casino in manistee MI and saw it sitting in a guys drive way so he stoped and come to find out he was washing it to put it up for sale that day the man had bought the charger new in 69 and needed to sell it because he was on his third batch of cancer this time it reached the lungs and he needed the cash for kemo He made a deal with my friend he would sell the car for $7,000 to him right on the spot if he would bring it back to his funeral so my buddy brought it back to his funeral and the family of course cried and told the story of the charger and what had happended after my buddy pulled away with it the man cried for a week straight and died like a month later and now here the car sits in my buddy's garage under a cover it has only ever seen the road maybe 5 or 6 times in 8 or 9 years it sad really thinking about how much the car is worth and why it isnt being taken care of.

The good but also the bad news The bad news I talked to my father and he dont want to part with his road runner the good news I did bring the charger home from my buddies agreeing i do all the detailing on the car and ill take a small percentage of the sale when I sell it in the spring I did do some research the car is definitly original as far as body and paint interior ect but the motor was swapped and the 6 pack was added the car is a original 440 car I still would love to own it but i wont be able to afford the car so I will be glad to watch it go to a person with money thats going to take car of it. I think i will be down at the gillmore car museum early spring to try to sell it there first then I will go to ebay if I cant sell it.

Hey I want to rebuild a 1969 dodge charger beater i bought if I put in a 383 engine with a 727 transmission and a 8 3/4 rear end would this set up work im new to this im only 14 soo im just lookin for some info

post anouther thread about it with a lil more detail... the 727 is a nearly bullet proof tranny as far as i kno... and a 383 can be a 12 sec screamer no prob... just a matter of money

hey i dont realy got much more detail I bought the car from a guy in toronto last year when I bought it it had no engine no transmission and i dont know what the rear end is the guy said it had a 318 in it before soo can you switch the k member soo i will fit a 383 or can you put a 340 in a charger but i dont know much about this because iv only been into this for a few months soo pritty much im looking for as much help and suggestions as i can get cause this car needs need front brakes all the mechanical stuff pritty much needs to be replaced soo any help would be appreciated

got alot there man... idk i dated a chick whose dad was a mech and thats how i learned how to work on them... im still learnin and i broke up with her lol i still hang out over there and my new motor is over there as we speak

The K-member on your Charger should be 2925930 which fits 318s 383s and 440s.
You need to fab up custom mounts or buy a engine swap mounts that convert a 318 to a 340.

From what I've heard the 340 is no good with a TorqueFlite.

Huh. Then i guess ALL 340's with a tranny are no good considering both 904's and 727's are TF's.

Well that's what I got watching Bud Lindeman pushing around a 340 69 Dart with a 833 and a 340 69 with a 727. Don't attack me attack Bud Lindeman, I wouldn't confirm or deny that fact until I drive either previously mentioned car.

The 340 is a awesome motor it just all depends on how you build it and drive it
