'78 lil' red express truck

I'm new to the restoring/redoing business.

I've got a '78 lil red express truck with a 360 engine and 727 transmission.

I have a 318 engine from a '76 dodge charger that I'd like to put in the truck.

Will the 318 bolt to the 727 transmission?

(I hate to pour a bunch of money into the 318 if it won't bolt up)

Thanks

yes they will bolt right up. the only thing to watch for is all 360s were externally ballanced. and some 318 were internally ballanced. you need to know for sure before u bolt the engine in. being a 76 im sure it was externally balanced but im not 100% sure.. you got any pics of your cordoba i mean charger?

Thanks for the reply.

sorry, no pics (of either). The charger is my uncles (he put something bigger in it) wanted to be able to burn the tires I guess.

How can I tell if he 318 is internally balanced or not? (is the plate on the back different?)
The 318 is actually a Gopher motor, so not the original one in the car.

I think it depends on rather or not theres weights welded onto the flex plate

i did a little looking around for you and what i came up with is. all 318s were internally ballanced. so what you gotta do is knock the weight off of the converter. its welded to the outer primeter of the converter. carfully use a small grinder and grind the welds down till you are able to pry the weight off. then clean the rest of the welds up with your grinder.

Thanks a bunch for your your help.

So after knocking the little block off the converter that 318 should bolt right up to it? Sounds simple enough to me.
