Advice needed badly... Parts questions.

I have that ugly stepchild 63 Custom 880 Vert Dodge...

A guy in Sweden want's my deck lid complete with hinges & dual springs, the rear bumper and all the surround trim, the lower rocker moldings, the rear seat upper & lower frames (mine are thrashed and ridiculously not restoreable) and all 3 rear view mirrors and that's about it...

How should I approach this? They are not common parts, his is probably the only one in Sweden, and there are very few here for that matter...

The car as it sits is totally unrestorable, no floors and the frame is parchment thin...

I know that to some these parts would be like gold, but to others not worth the shipping costs...

What is the best route to take to set a starting price for the whole set (less shipping)?

Any ideas? I gotta call this feller back in an hour...

Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, like the Mach One spare tire that sold for $1,500 bucks on e-bay once...

This car has to be worth more than $400 bucks. I mean WHO in the entire world has a rear bumper for a one of 822 Convertible 63 880 customs?

Nobody but me I reckon... I paid $200 bucks just for a 68 B body 150 MPH cluster a few years ago....

Where do I make my comparative leap that I set a price from? :D

I guess I'll start him off at $2,000 and see where it goes...

you mean 200 right?

Oh hell no. :D

Since I have the only one in the universe, $2,000 sounds fine :). I mean there is a trunk lid over there from an 880 he can buy locally for $800, but it's rusted all to hell.

Mine is not, plus, he get's the Rear Bumper, all 3 Rear view mirrors, Rocker panel moldings, Bumper surround moldings, Deck lid, deck lid hinges and all 4 springs, Genuine original tin trunk key with the trunk lock, rear seat upper and lower with speaker grill. Pretty much everything that his car has not had since 1963...

His car was used as a horse track gate mover over in Sweden since it was new...

So that $2000 will allow me to build a crate for all these parts ship them to LA, then let his wrecking yard buddy down there in LA ship them to Sweden.

I think it's a fair starting price. Don't you?

Commando 02-26-2009 03:48 PM

Kool where are you located at? I would think it to be cheaper to ship anywhere east of LA.

koolminx 02-26-2009 03:55 PM

I'm in Seattle. Gotta crate this crap up if he accepts the price. Send it to a wrecking yard in Los Angeles that the guy's friend does business with.

After that it's out of my hands... He's gotta accept or reject my offer first...

Oh ok, one step at a time.

Just a thought....

Just a bit of advice, if he accepts the price and all, BE VERY CAREFUL about what payment method you accept, including paypal. Alot of Scams come from over there. I had a guy wanting to buy some parts I listed sometime back, and I agreed to take a Money order. Turns out it was a fake money order. I never sent the parts, waiting for the money to go through... so no harm done, but Im not sure what a reliable way to get your money is from overseas. Bottom line, dont ship anything until you have the cash in had from the transaction. Even Paypal, can be scammed by waiting for the parts to ship, then cancelling the paypal transaction on their end. Ive heard stories of people doign this, and folks getting robbed for thousands of dollars in parts.
