Anyone know how to get a 1928 rat rod titled and tagged?

Hey guys I am looking at buying a 1928 ford tudor sedan ratrod. It's very cool, chopped, dropped, and has a turbo charged 350 in it. But after seeing the car and coming home and kicking the decision around for a long while. I'm going to buy it to resell. But anyways I decided I wanted to go ahead and do the deal. I called the guy to ask him some more questions and it occured to me that I forgot to ask if he had a title. Infact I met him in town with it and it had a plate and tag on it. Turned out the guy is a dealer and he had his dealer plate on it. And it doesnt have a title. the frame it is sitting on is completely custom built, so no numbers to go off of. I live in Oklahoma btw. But how would I go about getting a title for it? Or is it even possible to get it street legal without any major numbers for it?

Every state is different, but I have heard of a "Assembler's" title for things like that, but I think even that will need a inspection for safety and such. It sounds like a cool ride though. Good luck

In indian, you can apply for a rebuilt car title. simply states that you took a wrecked car or built a car from an existing frame and need to apply for a new rebilt title, and then the state police check the car adn if no vin or other numbers,., the state will assign you a new set of numbers for said vehicle.

It can be done by finding the the beginning serial numbers of the cars produced that year (internet) and then randomly picking a serial number anywhere in between the first and last serial number issued. You then imprint these numbers on the frame rail with a numbers punch and then inscribe these same numbers with a pencil and paper then carry the paper for registration. Chances are great the numbers you have in hand will not be on record. It worked for my good friend here in Tennesse who owns a 31 Model A Ford Rat Rod. I hope this helps you in Oklahoma.

Idk about them but I didn't get a title for my roadrunner and I used Broadway Title Company and got one for $150.

Thanks guys, I found something they offer in oklahoma for this kind of thing, called an "assemblers afadavit" but its for cars or motorcycles that people make, or use two or more units to make one. You have to provide all the bills of sale for everything involved on the build. But I am not sure if you have to have a VIN to show for it or not though. I am going to find out first thing tomorrow though. If everything turns out for me, then I am going to be in really good shape! Thanks again guys, also I liked the idea for finding a serial number that isnt registered. Thats just crazy enough it just might work! lol
