Post Attention All Max Wedge Enthusiasts

I am currently attempting to legalize a single 4 barrel intake manifold for Max Wedge cars in the NHRA. These manifolds will keep these awesome mopars competitive in Stock drag racing. I have heard from fellow max wedge driver's that they are good for 40 hp. These manifolds were used in nascar and in other closed circuit racing series. If you have any information at all about there use in racing please share. All i need is documentation about them from 1962,1963 and 1964. Any documentation will help. If i can acquire proof that these were produced by chrysler in these time periods i will be able to get this approved. Any information is useful... part numbers, pictures, mopar/chrysler catalogs, etc. Anything that talks about the engines/cars that used these manifolds. I would like to get it approved for both 413 and 426 max wedge's. If you are interested in being mentioned on the letter i will be sending to NHRA please send me your name and information on the car you race. Thanks for your time

Uh... The intake wasn't that big a deal. The exhaust manifolds on the other hand were. They are bar none the best exhaust manifold ever.

From what I understand the intake was a big deal. They needed lots of hours spent modifying them to get good fuel distribution for max HP

The intake manifolds play a very big role in power. Us Max Wedge guys can get what we want if i can just find some documentation. The best thing i found is inside of a book called Ultimate American V8 Engine Data Book by Peter C Sessler. It has 2 part numbers for the manifolds in it. This could help but i need to find an article or document that was written by mopar/chrysler

soooooo let me get this straight. you are going to improve on whart chrysler did? if you can you will impress me. just joking. i can see why you want to do that. but if chrysler never made a single 4 bbl max wedge you have a very big hill to go up. NHRA is a very hard outfit to go against. good luck.

in 1966 in tulsa at the world points finals. i saw an aluminum max wedge loose his hood in the traps. NHRA would not let him use a steel hood. thats NHRA.

manifold

Hi Bryan, I too am very interested in that combo., I currently race stock in k/sa with a small block in a truck #7591. I am going to talk to Bruce Bachelder in Vegas about this. He has always been very receptive of ongoing things. I have everything but a manifold and whatever carb will work. you can email me @ lfoshee@frontiernet.net if you wish to discuss this, Thank You Jack Foshee
