Axle Housing Coating

I was planning on having an axle housing powder coated and was wondering what the best way to have the studs coated is. I was told that if they get powder coated, the powder can build up in the threads. Would this also be true of painting them and paint build up? What is the best method of coating the threads? Thanks in advance.

whatever you use. it will build up on the threads causing you to have a harder time threading on a nut. i would not coat the studs.

X2 on that. Waste of time and money, It would be like painting nails before you drove them in wood.

i would powder coat everything but the studs and put a LIGHT coat of paint on the threads to keep them from rusting more than they willout being covered. paint will wire brush off, i don't think the powder will do that as easily.

now tim up there has access to stuff they build bridges with, so a little rust never bothers him!
