brake lights

I just put a new brake light switch on my car and now only 1 light lights up when i apply brakes. Why would the other one not light up? it turns on when you turn night lights on.

This might be a dumb question but is the bulb good? the night lights and brake light is different filaments one could be broke and the other still work.

well i thought they ran off the same filament because of the same bulb, but i will check.

no, as stated, one bulb with two filaments and they share a ground.

put new bulb in and still no stop

?
was the bulk you used an 1157?

it may be a bad socket or more likely, a break in the wire from the bulb to the harness.

if it is the right side bulb, look between the right side wire and the left side socket.

corroded socket is a real possibility. As an electrician I always use a product called "NOALOX" in wet applications.. For everyone else, use dialectric grease on all lamps and their sockets

It could be just a bulb or the ground for that side. Did it work with the old switch?

have you tested for power at the socket with a test light? sometimes the socket contacts melt into the holder and the bulb can't touch it.
