Breakdown kit !!!

Hi Guys,
I'M putting together a breakdown kit to put in the trunk when i

travel to shows/meets. I have the usual stuff, belt, plug, wires, etc

How reliable is the fusible link on the starter circuit ? do you think i should

get one and put that in my kit ? Or do they rarely Fail ? (72 cuda)

My mechanic told me once that I should carry an extra ECM and ballast resistor as you never know when they could go.

I would definitely have an extra ballist resistor as they seem to always be going out. Unless you are lucky like my neighbor that bought his Satellite new in 72 and has been carrying the same spare one around since then!

mopar action has a great article in its archives in reference to this. I put together a full kit based on their recommendation..

I had the 1 on my starter relay burn out on me ounce. The relay went bad and overloaded the fuse link. I carry a ecm, voltage reg, ballast res. dist. cap, rotor, a few plug wires, a few feet of 12 gauge wirew/ aligator clips at each end, a box of various amp fuses, and some hose clamps and a few inches of fuel line. true story, I was crusing my cuda 1 night, kept smelling gas really bad, stoped to look several times didnt see anything, no leaks or drips. car ran great. then it got worse. I looked again, and I found the gremlin. the clear plastic fuel filter had gotten up against the alt. belt. and rubbed a big enough hole in the side that it was shooting onto the belt, then the belt would burn it up as it ran. so it wasnt leving any leak signs. I didnt have anything on me then but a screwdriver and a cooler cup. I ended up using the heavy thick, straw of the cooler cup to replace the filter till the next day when the parts store opened.
