broke engine drove thru flooded street

while drivin thru flood, tried to go faster. big mistake. hesitation, then engine died. started engine again but, rod main bearing noise from bottom of engine. changed oil next day and kept driving it to see if it was a stock lifter. big mistake. big ugly noise, everything came flying thru the block including oil. need a hemi engine. drivetrain warranty over at 36,000. i thought it was 100,000miles/5yrs. wrong again. estimate between $6,600/8,000. if anybody can help, it will be appreciated. florida.

I had to read this thread four times before I figured out that you must be talking about a newer Hemi.... not the grand 426 beast we all love.

That sucks about what happened. Only thing I can tell you is to hit up some local junk/salvage yards and see what they have.

Make a claim with your insurance company, provided you have comprehensive coverage. If you get in water deep enough to destroy the engine the insurance company will usually write the car off as a total loss. If you don't have comprehensive (full) coverage, then perhaps this will motivate you to carry it in the future.

If you are stuck with the car, either sell it, or start shopping salvage yards for a replacement engine, a used engine should cost a fraction of getting a replacement at the dealership.
