Jeez Moe, where do you live? Here in NH we've seen temps around -5 F lately and I've had no problems (though my Journey turns over kinda slow). Maybe time for a new battery?

i have lived in Wichita ks from 1948. lowest temp i have seen was -10 f. weather man said the EVER lowest temp in ks is -33 f. i have never lived where i did not have garage next to my twk till now.

Yeah the weather sucks here in KS, probably oughta throw a trickle charger on your Batt Moe, my tractors (diesel and gas) are both slow sloooow cranking, I had to throw a charger on my JD diesel the other day, I hate winter, not to jinx us,
But at least we haven't had any of that ice rain crap...yet

tue 11:00 am just ate breakfast with mom. got my batt chargers and got one on my batt. it started at 12 amp dropped to 8 amp in 10 sec, so the batt should still be good. will check it latter, the plan is to cut amp down to 2 amp for over nite. new starter and batt 4.23.13 UPDATE: tue 3:30 pm started engine. had to keep RPM at 1200, so would not die. after engine temp at full it would idle fine. air temp 39 F. will leave charger on over nite. still praying.

more update: Wed 8 9:00 am. starts fine, runs fine. with the higher temps i think iam back to normal. but being sick, and very cold outside AND twk trouble all at the same is NOT fun. i would NOT wish it on ant one.

..........and get what's called a "battery tender"..............

RacerHog Jan 8, 2014 06:05 PM

That will help keep heat in the battery....And not over charge it... :)

you cats are so right as all ways. all so i really need a lower weight oil. 15w-40 doesnt work good at -5 f. and head lite not coming on is fine now. the autolite AR3933 plugs seam to be doing fine put in last nov. my fan belt is making a noise. will take to shop Friday.

RacerHog Jan 9, 2014 06:29 PM

Yep... A 5W20 will start allot easier....:)
