difference between 426 wedge and 426 hemi

there's a guy around me selling a 426 max wedge with everything except a crank shaft for 300 dollars
im on really considering on picking that up but just wondering is there a difference between the hemi block and the wedge block? could i put hemi heads and pistons on a wedge block and it run like the real thing?

1962 dodge max wedge (1852029-1) engine in good shape was running when pulled. 413 punched to 426.

Sorry, no.

Unless you need the dated block,I would pass on this, The forged crank is the best part of this package.

two completely different blocks, although they do share bolt on parts. I 'm not sure what the heads are he says industrial heads . 1962 would be a 413 block bored to 426.... The 426 did not come out until 63

Sounds like it maybe a Marine Engine to me. That would explain the industrial heads. The block number does come up as a 1962-63 413.

This is a term that is getting WAY too much mileage. There never were very many "max wedge" engines, and there are far "too many" of them showing up.

If this really WAS a "max", and I doubt it, it would be worth way more than 300 bucks JUST FOR THE HEADS.

Max heads are a very very special breed, as are the intakes.

Chrysler made lots and lots of 413s and many more 426 stageI/ II "street wedges" than the stage III "max" wedge, and there were damn few of the last.
