Easy Mopar history question

So was the Coronet the precursor to the Super Bee or was there just a Super Bee series of it or what?

Wikipedia is kind of bland on the subject...

I let somebody borrow a book that might have the answer to this question. I don't think ill ever get it back But I believe that the Super Bee is a series of it. Until the third gen. Charger came along. Don't take that to court.

I had a '69 Coronet, change the dash a little and add some gauges, you got a Super Bee.

We had a gold one come up to the farm during the big tour. It looked mean. I wish the guy would have driven it down to the barn.

Basically, the Coronet was a long running series, like the Satellite. When Plymouth got the Road Runner based on the Satellite, Dodge needed their own model to compete. They took a Coronet and gave it the "road runner" treatment, and viola, you have the Super Bee. The name was kinda a play on it being a "b" body platform, plus they didn't have to pay Warner Bros for the use of the name.

Is that a Crown Vic in the avatar, I think I just puked a little.

That's the one thing about the Ford logo, at least they circled the problem.
