Intake options

Trying to balance visual wow and actual performance and street ability.

Building a rat rod with a big block.
Have tunnel ram 2x4. How much better is a large single 4 on a single or dual plane intake? Or is the tunnel ram better.

It all depends on the motor and how much cam and converter you have.

20 or more years ago the tunnel ram was king. Over the years with more manifolds available and bigger and better carb/throttle body EFI, the tide turned.

If you search you will find more power over the full rpm range with a single 4 barrel. In a street vehicle, better diveability with top end power is better.

Although you can't beat the visual wow factor with two carbs up in the air.

Well.... Like all Tunnel Rams.... WIDE OPEN... But if your not going to run it there... It's kind of a mood point....

Dave -

It's always the looks vs performance thing.
If this is for car shows and tooling around, go with what you think looks best.

For street driving, a single 4V and dual plane will be the most effective (but boring).
For racing, then it's what the guys hare saying, what's in the motor and where does it live (rpm wise).
