Took a minute but it's running, I need to pull the brake light fuse, any idea WHICH one it would be?

Going to Advance to get a new battery, pulling that fuse and seeing if it starts up freely

dodgenut7 May 30, 2010 11:34 AM

not sure which fuse it would be but you should consider getting a haynes manuel for your specific vehicle it will take you through a complete tear down and rebuild they are a excellent source of info

Awesome man that sounds pretty strong, sorry no idea which is the brake fuse - worse comes to worse just start pulling them one at a time till they go out and you have found it .....

samuelcosmo76 May 30, 2010 11:54 AM

you can just disconnect the brake light switch if the light is stuck on. if you look on the pedal under the dash you'll see it.

Sgt. Veteran May 30, 2010 12:01 PM

yep that works too just don't pull it out of ajustment or you won't have any lights when ya hit the brakes which = being rear ended

MReeves May 30, 2010 12:06 PM

Now you and check off box number 1.... Get it started!!!!! Congrats on getting er going........ Keep us posted on your progress......

johnthegoalie May 30, 2010 01:02 PM

don't forget to re-tighten the air filter...

blue 68 gts May 30, 2010 01:26 PM

I'm not sure what loosening up the air filter, and having a dead battery is going to help but okay...

That battery is gone. Get an interstate

Glad to see its running

Oh, and for the fuse, look closely at the panel. Theres probably about 6 or 7 fuses. Each have a diff purpose. One will be for all the lights IIRC. Replace it

samuelcosmo76 May 30, 2010 01:29 PM

^^ that's what i said hahaha

RROriginals May 30, 2010 02:25 PM

Loosening the air filter actually helped it start up first turn. Just put a new battery in, tightened it, it didn't start, loosened it, it was fine.

RROriginals May 30, 2010 02:26 PM

But one question, does anyone know WHICH fuse would be the brakes? I don't really want to pull them all

if you take it off completely it might start by itself :D

look at your fuse block, it should say what each is for

RROriginals May 30, 2010 02:30 PM

Haha, smarta$$, Atleast it starts first turn now. Want to enlighten me on my fuse?

Crazy4Carz.Com May 30, 2010 04:06 PM

Holy cr@p, It is taking longer to keep asking about the fuse than to just check each one. There is only maybe 8. How long could it take? 3-4 minutes?

67gtxclone May 30, 2010 05:45 PM

Glad you got her running! Man, that air cleaner thing is one odd
idiosyncrasy. Maybe your filter is plugged and not letting enough air in??? But no matter what, whatever works!!!

RROriginals May 30, 2010 06:58 PM

Holyhell batman! Actually it has 11. And it was easier to just disconnect the connection in the trunk. Oh and to enlighten you a bit, the fuses did NOT want to come out.

blue 68 gts May 30, 2010 07:01 PM

Of course they don't want to come out... old fuses, corrosion, tight fits, ect.

Just gotta find a way to get em out. Sounds like you got it though

RROriginals May 30, 2010 07:16 PM

Yeah, theres no corrosion or anything, they just don't want to come out, at all. I used fuse pullers, needlenose pliers, clamps, screwdrivers. I just said "Screw it" and disconnected the lights until I get around to the fusebox
