lug nuts

I cant break the lug nuts loose on drivers side front on 68 barracuda. I don't have access to an impact wrench. Is it righty tighty lefty loosy? I heard the threads may be different. I really don't want to break a stud. I've even tried a cheater pipe but didn't try super hard because I may be tightening them. I've had the car over 2 years and this is the first time I've had to take a wheel off. any ideas? It does have disc brakes on front if that means anything. Can't see the stamp on studs because of the lug nut covering it. thanks

Look on the end of the stud, "L" is left handed thread, "R" is right handed, If it had not been changed yet, the lefties are probably still on there

if you have a big pipe that will help for leverage

http://www.jimsautoparts.com/wheels.htm

on the site above you can see that the correct lugs for them were left and right threaded as stated in the post above you may only have a few left that are original as previous owners may have already used the cheater bar and had head trauma and snapped the lugs off not knowing the correct threading but the true question is, once you get the tires off are you gonna put on the correct ones or make them all lefty-loosy :)

lug nuts

Hey what really screw with your head is when some one changes the brake drums from side to side. Then you have left and right on both sides just opposite on each. (front to back) ..

Anyway, just ask 78D200, he is THE expert on left hand lugnuts!(hehehehe) :) :p

when i first bought mine, the previous owner changed the back and not the front. and it was the last wheel i took off too...

My previous owner did 3 of the wheels to righty but not the rear left one...slacker.
