THE MOPAR THAT DID IT
Hello evreyone, with as slow as the forum has been I was thinking of somthing that could get evreyone talking. So, what was the mopar that got you into the hobby? Not necessarly your first car but the one that sparked your intrest.
Mine was the 1968 roadrunner the body lines the grill evreything about it I though it was just a mean looking machine

Early 70s Newport
The Mopar I remember most was from when I was a little kid. My Dad owned an early 70s Newport, I dunno the exact model year. I think it had a 383 in it. What I remember most about it is the unusual flat speedometer that went all the way up to 120 when everything else didn't go past 80. It was a huge old boat but wow could it fly!

My dad was a mopar guy, we always had a mopar when I was a kid,We had early '60 plym,I loved the push button transmission selector! Hey, I was a kid, what did I know.In '72 he bought a duster, only a slant 6,but it was pretty quick and the easiest car to work on.Every time I change the spark plugs on my 440 cuda,I think about that duster.

I really want early 70's (72-74) Dodge Power Wagon. Honestly, I love the trucks more than the cars. Must be because they came with 440's, could be built to go fast and still haul a load. I just wish that I didn't live in an area that rots everything out so dang fast.

The First Mopar I can remember my dad buying. a Burnt Orange 67 FuryIII with a 318 3 in the tree. He could never use the clutch right and ended up buying 2 sets of rear tires.

There are a few for me. One was a mid 60s Dodge Coronet wagon my dad bought from a neighbor. I thought it looked mean from the front, plus it could haul @$$. After that there was a kid in my neighborhood who had a 69 Super Bee that terrorized the place. The shape of the car and the bumble bee stripe got me. The last one was a late 60s Dart with a 440. That is when I understood the definition of insanity, to put an engine that big in a car that small.

I was sold on mopar the first time i took a ride in one when i was 15. It was a somehow street legal 70 charger. It consisted of a str8 piped built 440, 4 speed, DANA rear, bondo body, and 2 seats, thats it. First (and only) car that i was in that lifted the front wheels. I could'v had the car last year, but dad wouldnt let me! Now, I can only get the front wheels of my satellite off the ground if I jacked it up. Its still a mopar, though, so im happy

For me I would have to say a 68 roadrunner or a 70 challenger. They were parked side by side at a car show I went to with my dad when I was about 12 years old. He said some thing about how "oh look thers some useless ugly mopars" and he wanted to keep walking but I remember walking around that runner thinking how awesome it was and how cool the both looked. My dad was a little upset I think but man were those cool cars. Since then I have loved mopars, although now I'm really into a-bodies

My dad has always been a Mopar guy and it rubbed right off to me a bit, earliest one i can recall him draggin into the yard was a 68 Coronet 500 ...... rough shape, more bondo than metal. Hard to find parts for up here in East coast of canada!
Ill see if my aunt has pics of it done after my dad sold it to my uncle to finish!
BUT the car that sealed the deal for me was the Cuda, the later models! Apparently my mom had a white one and liked to do donuts in the parking lots when i was only few years old!! I dont remember it thought but it must have made an impression somehow!
Cheers,
Justin

My whole family is basically chevy. I'm the outcast.
I owned a second gen camaro. Never again.
Than i got my duster and I loved the boxy look.
And well, Mopar makes boxy sexy.
My duster sold me I guess.

King Richard's Superbird and the Sox & Martin Cudas... it was the right time for me, I still hadn't gotten my driver's license, no one in my family had ever had a car, so those were my impression cars. My first "real" Mopar was a '68 GTX, and I've always wanted a
70 Cuda, but the x would never approve that. Maybe someday...

My parents had a '67 Barracuda coupe, then a '76 Cordoba. Both did it for me. (Drove both while in high school in the mid 80's) One day I will own both. I'm into the newer ones right now (have a Salsa Red 2000 Dodge Neon ES with almost 200K on it now, as well as a GoMango 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona number 1592 of 4000 made) . My next step in getting into the old ones!
