I think this thread should be deleted and the OP banned for life.

Coronet 500 07-27-2013 10:30 AM

Yeah, Moe can be a little harsh, but I guess that's what happens when you get old (I'll let you know in 6 months when I hit 50). So far i have not seen any real reason for sanctions, but i'm keeping my eyes open. :look:

Moe, dont you like helping the young guys out. I love teaching young/old/new people the stuff that was taught/learned over the years to me. Its called the circle of life.. I learned most of what I know from an old army buck sergant turned mechanic.. He barked like an old junk yard dog as a service manager but when he was showing you how to do something he was a sweet old man.. So every time he started barking I would say I know you dont mean that Ive seen the other side of you. We became good friends and I got to learn a ton on his ticket.. Until his passing some time later.. So Moe we've all got your number you have a good side as we all do.. Its just finding it... Right...Bill

Brother Mopar 07-28-2013 10:05 AM

I'm just barely hitting 30, but my girl says I was born an old man...close enough?

moe7404 07-28-2013 11:41 AM

"Moe, dont you like helping the young guys out." yes i do. but most of the time they think they know more than i. sometimes its true. i have socks older than most the kids that think they know it all. but when i say something you can go to bank with it. but sometimes i DO know what iam talking about, and i dont need a kid telling me a holley is better than a Carter for street driving. if its something iam not sure of ill SAY so, just check some of my posts.

pro-tech 07-28-2013 12:11 PM

Moe, I hear ya there, It is very hard to teach a know it all... there a saying and Im sure you've heard it. " A person that thinks he knows it all is very annoying to those of us that do"... Lol. I have a son that is a know it all and we dont speak to each other anymore by his choice. And it is fine with me as I know some day he will grow up or man up should I say...Bill:yikes:

Moe - What works better for you doesn't mean it will work better for someone else. Every situation is different and will result is different outcomes and will need different solutions. Everyone's knowledge is different and capabilities are different.

I'm not saying what you post up isn't true, just might not always work for some people.

For example - I use to(and still do) love Edelbrock carbs because they are one of the easiest carbs to work/tune IMO. I'll tell someone just starting to work on carbs to start with one of them. On the other hand though, I couldn't pass up a well tuned Holley on a street/tow D200 that I had. For me it was tough to get it just right, but with the help of a friend who knows them well, that truck would scream.

mr340 07-28-2013 12:42 PM

As far as the carb thing goes, I hate Holley but i love the TQ. Most people think they are the worst carb ever produced, but I have found that once you get it to the sweet spot, nothing compares to it. You just need patience to get it right, and you need to keep it clean and in tune. just my .02 (everyone has a preference)

Coronet 500 07-28-2013 01:38 PM

A friend told me that when I was 20 years old I knew everything then I lost that knowledge and gained wisdom, I'm not sure that's true 'cause now I'm past 50... I CAN'T REMEMBER!

pro-tech 07-28-2013 03:47 PM

 LMAO Yup isnt that the truth!!!!! Like when you go to get a tool and you get to the tool box and cant remember what you are there for.. So you stand there for a while trying to over come and end up going back to the car or whatever to remember......Bill

RacerHog 07-28-2013 07:58 PM

You know..... Before the Internet, I had to go find people with all this knowledge. But Now if I need Moe's input, it's rite at my finger tips. And I am so thankful for that. And all you other folks out there helping. You just couldn't get this kind of help in our younger days....
