My son and I are working on his first ride it's a 1991 w150 pick up. I need to locate backing plates for rear brakes. Also trans won't shift into 3rd til 40 mph? Any help would be great. Thanx

 

Have you checked with your local junk yard/ you pull-a-part for the backing plates? I've found several 85 and up pick ups and Ramchargers in the boneyards around where I live, or do you want to replace with new parts only? As for the tranny issue, I'd say either some trash in the valve body, could be low on fluid, could be many things? Do you know if the kickdown cable is working? Sorry about that, just not a definite answer for something like that symptom. Good luck with the truck, I'm a few months away from starting my Father/Son truck project, my son just turned 16, and he's anxious to get started on a truck! I've got to find a way to stop draggin so many projects home! I've got an 86 (been totaled, but the drive train is good), so we're putting that in my 73 Dart, then I'm hoping to find my son a D-50 4x4, had one on Craigslist, but never got a call back from the owner.
