New to MOPAR: Front disc brake conversion
 

Hey guys. I inherited my uncles 1951 Coronet. It's been in my family for about 20 years and looking to get it back into good shape after sitting in a garage for 5 years. I am new to MOPAR but a capable learner. The brakes went out after the brake lines busted and the front drum brakes are old and need to be replaced. Figured this would be a good time to convert them to disc brakes.

For conversion kits for a 1951, they seem scarce, any recommendations on kits and where to look. I found ECI brakes and they want $625 for the kit plus an additional $350 to convert the master cylinder and calibrate the brake adjustments. First off most kits I see include the brackets, rotors, calipers and various nuts, bolts, hoses etc. Is this master cylinder conversion from single piston worth it or can I get away with getting these at a parts store for less?

You should be so lucky to find an engineered brake system for that year of car. I would recommend you just buy the entire system as recommended and let the manufacturer take ownership for any short comings. You seem concerned about the price but I'll bet you pissed more than that away fruitlessly last year without even putting your life in danger ( beer perhaps) like a mishmash brake system would do. I would say to anyone that if they don't posses the knowledge to undertake a complicated task, let the professionals do it because thet have truely "been there, done that".
