Newby 1966 Plymouth VIP Axle ratio
I'm looking to buy a 66 VIP and the owner doesn't know whether or not it is a sure grip, whats the easiest way to tell when I go to look at the car other than just smashing the gas and seeing if both tires break lose. Also does anyone know what gear ratio these cars came with? This one is a 383 4bbl.
Any help would be appreciated

Chock the front wheels and jack the car up with a floor jack under the differential housing. With the trans in neutral, turn one back wheel. If the other ones turns in the same direction, it's a sure-grip/posi. If the other one doesn't turn, or (more likely) turns in the opposite direction, it ain't.
Most of those cars came with a 3.23 or lower gears. While you have the car on the jack, mark the drive shaft and turn the rear wheel again. See how many times the drive shaft goes around for every full rotation of the wheel. That will get you close to the ratio.
