Oil gauge still not working
 
It's been a while but I'm working on my 74 road runner again. It's a 318 auto. I can't get my oil sending unit to read a resistance. I took off the wire going to the bulk head and measured the resistance from the oil sending unit to the ground and my DMM reads infinity when set in the ohms setting, and this happens both with the engine on and off. I tested with another DMM and got the same results. I'm about at the point where I'm going to take it in for someone to fix because I can't figure this out, but I'm giving it one last try. Does anyone else know how to test a 74 oil sending unit? I bought it new a year or so ago but can't get it to work. Or maybe I don't know how it works. I'll post a picture of my sending unit but I'm fairly certain it's the gauge not the switch unit.

Is the wire good from the sending unit to the cluster?
Check the wire for Continuity first..... Just my 2 cents..

I trust your using the right sending sensor. Some are straight "made/not made" for idiot lights on the dash and some are resistance style for graduated pressure gauges. Using a VOM meter in series set to 3000K will tell you what type you have when the engine is running and revved slightly.
