OK, new path. Forget 340. Cuda gets 360

I got myself a set of 340 X heads to add to my 318, after some suggested it could be done.

Well, after talking with a guy who has built so many old mopar engines over the last 30 years for both street and strip, and he thought I was being foolish. I asked him what his adivice was.

He said, don't mess around. Just get a Hemi.
I said, can't afford it.

He said: Well your next best bet is to go big small block with a 360, and take full advantage of those 2.02" valves in the X heads. The 318 would not take full advantage of the big valves, no matter what I did to it. The big bore and stroke of the 360 would really wake up with big torque numbers.

I think he is right. I want easy torque (around 400) and cheap hp (around 350). I can get there much cheaper with bigger displacement (360 punched out 0.040") and medium cams.

Any thoughts out there? Any similar experiences.
