Orange ignition box? and ignition quetions.

Who has any experience with one? I'm thinking of finding one. I've heard that they really wake these motors up compaired to stock. but i'd like more opinions.

Also, why do i need a ballast resistor? Is it there to protect the ignition controll, or does the coil need it? ( i have a Accel superstock coil now)

ballast resistor, it reduces the volts going in to the car when the car is running, with out it it will run like crap and start burning up the coil, the orange box ive never noticed a differnce when i switched them out, they spose to be a higher voltage, and let you rev higher, i dont use them any more since i bought my 1st msd in the early 90's

I was looking into the same thing for my GTX. Summit is offering the Orange Box from Moapr with a distributor. Its that or a MSD.

Any recomendations as far as what I should do?

In my experience, for a full race rig, an MSD might have a slight advantage. For a street or street/strip car, probably zero (nothing you'd really notice).

My Orange box (and distributor package) was purchased in the early 80's and id still going strong, so I have no intention of switching. YMMV.
