Rear End Posi Question

I am installing a 383 in a 65 Satellite 2dr. The engine has been tweaked and will put out 420hp or so.

I am putting in a posi with 3.23 but I am wondering about the rear end and whether a 741, 742 or 489 is the best fit. I have a chance to buy a 741 and a 489. The 741 is half price.

I will not be drag racing the car, sunday driver but I will want to tramp it down for sure every know and then.

Any ideas on the best fit for this project ?

For a cruiser any 8.75 rear will be fine. And just for the record, in a Mopar it is NOT a "posi" it is a SURE GRIP. Posi rears are in chebbies.

sorry bout that. was gonna say" I agree with crazy"

489 is the strongest but a little harder to get parts.

742 is the most common performance version and easiest for parts.

741 strong but not as strong as the others [but plenty strong for your needs]

tell im polara dude, mopar men dont need tissues, we carry shovels, cause we have to clean the crap up from the furd and chubbie guys, due to them dropping a load every time they see our mopes on the street. Oh S@#T that bad mopars out prowling again, time to put the rustang back in the shed.LOL In answer to the thread, all of the rears are strong enough to handle what your planning to put through it, so buy the cheap 1 and spend the extra bread on more parts. Sweeeeeet.
