Rear Main seal

I have a leak in the rear main somewhere..We changed it out and still leaking, My question is the 2 round seals go in and in the kit it shows on the internet that it comes with the 2 strip that go on the rear main cap that have the 45 deg on the sides...Well it does not come with it ......It comes with the tube of sealer and 2 brushes that you dip in water and fill in the space after you put in the rear main cap....Back to my Question: Does that brush work as well as the gasket that should go in their?

I never bothered with the brushes.....all I ever do is clean everything really good with Brake Clean.....then seal the entire rear side with Silicone.
Use the tapered end of the silicone tube to "pressure" squirt the silicone IN THE CRACKS between the Seal Retainer and the Block.

On another note;
Did you "offset" the Seal Halves from the parting lines ?
Usually a good idea...because the groove that holds the upper seal half in the Block on BB Mopars, is usually NOT centered with the Crank on many Blocks ?
it causes one side of the Lip Seal to be compressed against the Crank....and the other side to barely touch= LEAK !

Have a look at the upper Seal Half in the Block next time, BEFORE you put the Retainer and lower Seal Half in......make sure one side of the LIP on the Seal is NOT compressed against the Crank... MORE than the other side is.
If it is....offset the Seal about 1/4" from the parting line....and use the retainer to DRAG the offending non-contacting side over into contact with the Crank as you tighten the Retainer Bolts.
It's a common problem on BB Mopars.....hence why so many have trouble with rear main leaks.

Some times you just need to replace the seal holder
