Rebuild kit

I'm going to need an engin rebuild kit here pretty soon, with most all the gaskets, bearings, seals, rings, and pistons, proably need oil pump as well (so far all I have is timeing chain/sprockets, springs, lifters, cam, and spring retainers). At this point I think I only need to hone the cylinders.

That being said, what brands of kits do you guys trust, reccomend, or disaprove of? Even further, where do you like to buy from. In an act to ever so slightly increase compression, would it be possible to find slightly taller pistons of factory diamater, at a decent price? If so, could you point me in their direction?

And as always, if a $100 set will do as well as a $150 set I'd go the cheaper route.

Thanks

What you need is a gasket set. There is going to be rings, bearings, and assorted other parts that cannot come as a kit rather by size. If you enjoy doing this kind of work buy the inexpensive parts. If you would like to do this once and be done, get the good stuff. Oh crap i said it, "get the good stuff" Oh man, too much TV.

Hey silver. what motor are we buildin? crazy 4`s right on the pistons and hard parts. but for gasket sets. i get mine from summit racing. 1-800-230-3030. they carry felpro brand . and a gasket set from them has all the pcs. you need to do a whole build. minus again the hard parts. but they also have the best prices for the hard parts too. like the oil pump. etc. on your comp. question. keep in mind that if you want to stay on pump gas you need to keep it mild . I wouldnt go more then 10.3-1. and like crazy said buy the better pistons. youl spend more ounce , not twice. ive had it happen. when i was a novice.cheap was it, then after a few re-rebuilds, due to cheap parts, I learned my lesson.
