Smoke from Firewall
 

I have a 1974 Plymouth Duster that I am trying to revive after it has been sitting for 8 years. When I turn the key into the on position, smoke comes from the firewall burning the fusible link. Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Check the firewall connection... That what it sounds like to me.... Here are some photos.... Not your car but the same concept apply.....
