what is a thick head gasket for a 360
Hey all
I need to get more piston to valve clearance in my 360 magnum. My gasket has .042 compressed thickness. I need at least .060 compressed thickness as a minimum. I cant use a cometic as I tried one and it leaked oil. The head was shaved but the deck was not decked so I want to stay away from cometic. Any suggestions cheers Maca |
Sounds like the piston valve pockets need to be opened up for the clearance. Unless your having a head to piston quench problem?

Try a thick dead soft copper gasket or paint a cometec with copper seal or high temp aluminum paint to make it seal

Thanks guys
I ended up pulling the pistons out as I will be putting in a lower comp set eventually anyway. So just means I have to do it early. Cheers Ps, hey dodgeaddict are you also on the Australian site mopar market. I think I may have chatted to you there before. |

Thought I recognized ya.
I am looking at supercharging my magnum but am reluctant to pull down my current engine as I have done so much to it. I am just doing some costings and want to know what a high mileage 360 magnum would be from a junk yard? |
I pick them up for between $200-400 usually off the Craigslist
