Wrecking yard find
 

Went to a wrecking yard to see what they had and I found a 1962 Dodge Dart 440 4dr. The car was about 95% there 318 poly/push button auto. Grille was good, No body damage all lenses were good. My kid wants a 4 dr car from the 50's or early 60's so anyway I go in and ask about buying it, The guy at the counter calls his owner and then tells me it's only for parts they won't sell it.
OUCH, what a waste of a car, I had already started planning to drop a 360/727 into it. It even had Power steering. They also had a 1950 Dodge Meadowbrook (2dr) minus engine/trans and a 72 Dart.
What a dammm waste.

depending on the state that you are in, you can't get salvage titles for cars. ask to talk to the owner directly, he might change his mind.

Talk to the owner directly.... if he is any kind of a business person .. he will sell it. B U T ... bring your wallet ON FULL. Most JY owners give new meaning to the word vulture !

This is one of the U-Pull it type places. In California they allow Salvage titles but wrecking yards will file it as junk and get a junk reciept and can't sell the vehicle I found the info at www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dismantler_hdbk/pdf/chapter4.pdf
I guess I'll keep looking, Just hate to see this get crushed after it's picked over.

How reasonable are the Upull yards in CA ?

there's a wrecking yard here that has some mopars in it but the owner is rediculous on his old car stuff doesnt want to part them but will sell you the whole car for a barret jackson junk yard price i found a 71 dart 2dr i wanted the hood well that would be 1000 bucks for the car then found a 4dr 73 valiant that too would be a 1000 bucks??????? he even had a wasted 68 r.r. but that was 3500 for no drivetrain,no hood, int gone the rear was rusted out i even found a 67 barracuda that had its hood messed up but the areas i needed were good that too was a 1000 bucks the only 1 that was a good deal was a 72 duster twister petty blue v-8 car complete for yes you guessed it 1000 bucks

And if that car has been there a year or two ... that JY owner probably CHARGED the owner of the car to take-it-away.

Just VULTURES ... most of these guys.
