WTB carburator
Looking for a 'working' carb for cheap, to get the charger running again, instead of buying a brand new one right now...let me know guys:)
What size carb are you looking to go for?
How much are you looking to spend? |
have you tried craigslist?
just anything like a 500cfm for now...and im not sure, was just seeing who had one for sale possibly, since im only able to work 3 days a week now :/
yea ive tried CL, but theres none in my area on there |
Are you still looking to sell your carb Commando?
2 barrel or 4 barrel?
I may have a manual choke 500 edelbrock available in about a week.
67 GTX I am still looking to sell mine, I had a local guy contact me through Craigslist and I don't think he wanted to wait two weeks until today for me to deliver it to him. I am going to take some pictures today of it, and hopefully some pics for Al of my Cordoba to answer his questions.
ok, great
did you put the engine back in yet? |
Nope, almost have the 400 out, picking up the 440 from the machine shop tomorrow. Need to buy heads, get stall converter and flex plate, do shift kit and identify differential. Then I should be good to go.
what did the machine shop do to the motor?
Well you see I didn't realize there was water sitting on top of the pistons and it pitted them. I couldn't get it all out by honing it so I sent it there and they told me it had to be bored out. I had them bore it out .30 over, acid wash the block, put new cam bearings in, assemble the lower end to include new pistons, steel crank with new bearings, put the cam in, and timing gear all for $650, I couldn't say no to that price. I get it back today, and since he primed the block it isn't a big deal to throw the Mopar blue back on.
I took some pics of the carb if anyone is interested: http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/100_0403.jpg |
good luck with the block
when do you think you'll put it in? |
I am not sure, would like to buy heads by the end of the year, should have the trans done by that point so, should have it in by then.
did you ever find out about the oil slinger?
Nope, and I thank you for reminding me. As I said before I just don't think there was one installed, as there were no remnants of it. I do want to put one in though.
i wonder why there wasnt one
oil would seep out is there wasnt one |
I read something about it yesterday and it said it is used to help prevent oil from getting to the oil seal, make it last longer, as well as keeping the timing gear oiled.
huh
where would you find one to buy? |
Theres one on eBay right now, I am thinking about buying.
how much is it going for?
Sorry to butt in
I have seen 1 on http://www.440source.com/ for sale. Has anyone used their stuff? :)
More then the one on 440 source, but it is a NOS Mopar part. I just bid on it, ends in less then an hour.
Oh, forgot to add, I bought an aluminum water pump, housing and neck from them, seems to be good, a little bit of residue from what looks like a sand casting, but good stuff.
67 GTX, I got it for $20.38 including shipping. The one on 440 source is $7.95 plus whatever they charge for shipping.
thats not too bad
is it N.O.S. nice job with the aluminum water pump are you gonna paint it, or leave it alone? |
It is NOS, I am not sure yet, was thinking about starting a thread about painting aluminum.
good luck on that thread
