WTB carburator

Looking for a 'working' carb for cheap, to get the charger running again, instead of buying a brand new one right now...let me know guys:)

Commando 11-12-2008 03:35 PM

What size carb are you looking to go for?

How much are you looking to spend?

78D200 11-12-2008 04:15 PM

Are you still looking to sell your carb Commando?

skymynx 11-13-2008 02:36 AM

2 barrel or 4 barrel?

Crazy4Carz.Com 11-13-2008 05:19 AM

I may have a manual choke 500 edelbrock available in about a week.

Commando 11-13-2008 07:22 AM

67 GTX I am still looking to sell mine, I had a local guy contact me through Craigslist and I don't think he wanted to wait two weeks until today for me to deliver it to him. I am going to take some pictures today of it, and hopefully some pics for Al of my Cordoba to answer his questions.

67 GTX 11-13-2008 01:26 PM

ok, great
did you put the engine back in yet?

Commando 11-13-2008 05:05 PM

Nope, almost have the 400 out, picking up the 440 from the machine shop tomorrow. Need to buy heads, get stall converter and flex plate, do shift kit and identify differential. Then I should be good to go.

67 GTX 11-13-2008 07:15 PM

what did the machine shop do to the motor?

Commando 11-14-2008 04:41 AM

Well you see I didn't realize there was water sitting on top of the pistons and it pitted them. I couldn't get it all out by honing it so I sent it there and they told me it had to be bored out. I had them bore it out .30 over, acid wash the block, put new cam bearings in, assemble the lower end to include new pistons, steel crank with new bearings, put the cam in, and timing gear all for $650, I couldn't say no to that price. I get it back today, and since he primed the block it isn't a big deal to throw the Mopar blue back on.

I took some pics of the carb if anyone is interested:

67 GTX 11-14-2008 02:04 PM

good luck with the block
when do you think you'll put it in?

Commando 11-14-2008 05:01 PM

I am not sure, would like to buy heads by the end of the year, should have the trans done by that point so, should have it in by then.

67 GTX 11-14-2008 09:11 PM

did you ever find out about the oil slinger?

Commando 11-15-2008 07:57 PM

Nope, and I thank you for reminding me. As I said before I just don't think there was one installed, as there were no remnants of it. I do want to put one in though.

67 GTX 11-15-2008 09:03 PM

i wonder why there wasnt one
oil would seep out is there wasnt one

Commando 11-16-2008 05:03 AM

I read something about it yesterday and it said it is used to help prevent oil from getting to the oil seal, make it last longer, as well as keeping the timing gear oiled.

67 GTX 11-16-2008 07:54 AM

huh
where would you find one to buy?

Commando 11-16-2008 12:59 PM

Theres one on eBay right now, I am thinking about buying.

67 GTX 11-16-2008 03:57 PM

how much is it going for?

dtmlevatan 11-16-2008 06:01 PM

Sorry to butt in

I have seen 1 on http://www.440source.com/ for sale. Has anyone used their stuff? :)

Commando 11-16-2008 07:09 PM

More then the one on 440 source, but it is a NOS Mopar part. I just bid on it, ends in less then an hour.

Commando 11-16-2008 07:10 PM

Oh, forgot to add, I bought an aluminum water pump, housing and neck from them, seems to be good, a little bit of residue from what looks like a sand casting, but good stuff.

Commando 11-17-2008 05:54 AM

67 GTX, I got it for $20.38 including shipping. The one on 440 source is $7.95 plus whatever they charge for shipping.

67 GTX 11-17-2008 12:50 PM

thats not too bad
is it N.O.S.
nice job with the aluminum water pump
are you gonna paint it, or leave it alone?

Commando 11-17-2008 06:11 PM

It is NOS, I am not sure yet, was thinking about starting a thread about painting aluminum.

67 GTX 11-17-2008 07:11 PM

good luck on that thread
