1966 Bright Red Dodge Charger 361
5 Attachment(s)
Greetings!
Managed to get out of the 4 door Belvedere II before I lost my a$$. Had my eye on a 68 Coronet 4door, with the thought it was going to take a few more flips before I could afford a real muscle car. Then the MoPar gods smiled on my family and we found this in our price range: Attachment 12464 Attachment 12465 Attachment 12466 Attachment 12467 Attachment 12468 Been in storage past 15 years, in same family for 39. It was handed down from father (owned 9 years) to son (owned 30). Doing the math, could happen agian in our family. Very honest and orginal survivor. Dot a single dent in it anywhere. Paint is orginal, but tired. Interior needs redone, but its all there. Only non stock items are tow hitch (wasn't an available option untill '67) and a later 383 4bbl/maniforld. She fired right up, but didnt want to run old gas through it. Put in new windsheld today and went through the brakes. Will be installing new gas tank/sender and full fluid swap/tune up tomorrow. Now the Snowtrooper's are really back in the saddle..... |
Great find, for you the summer is right around the corner {short winter to get the work done} have fun cruising your new ride
|
Sweet !!!!!!!!!!
Congrats :) |
Thanks!
Did the tune up and put the new tank in today. She's only firing on 5.5 cylinders. 0 compression in 2 and low on another. Looks like head work is next. Did a leak down test to confirm issue was heads, not cylinders. Nice thing is, just happen to have a set of heads from a complete 1969 383 B block avaialble. Likely throw those on just to get her up and running. Was thinking of doing it anyway, but now I don't really have a choice I think. Need to do a little more research, but what ive seen over at allpar the should bolt right on. |
Welcome to the forum, Nice car those are my favorite years/body style chargers!!!
|
Wow....383 RB's you don't find very often...:)

After checking stamping on 383 block, it appears it is "just" a B block. Was going off last owner's description. Had not checked numbers before I posted.... OP edited for clarity.... |
Here is link in the engine section of this forum detailing the proposed 1969 383 heads to 1966 361 engine block discussion....
