Just bought this. Needs some work but nothing thats gonna cost too much. Brakes,Tires, Body Work, A little rust repair ,carpet, and paint. Paid $2000 for it, motor was redone already, so far with brakes, shocks, trunk extensions, body work supplies, undercoat, brake clean, wheel bearing grease, inner seals for bearings, bearing packer, brake booster with master, only spent around $550.

Now about that FJ-40 --- used to have one with a 340 in. A-833 4 speed, adaptor to Jeep "straight through" transfer, and driveshafts made from Bronco shafts with the LC ends on the tube end.

After Applying Rust Mort. Still have to do 2 more coats, wipe off then patch holes. After I will paint it with Rust Shield(POR 15 Equivalent). Attachment 13201 |
Wow! What a huge difference! I like it!

Nice ride and good to see another one being saved from the derby boys. Keep us up to speed on your progress.

Well here are some updated pics finally. The weather has been horrible, rain has hindered progress being I have no garage and have to keep it covered when it rains. But The trunk and inside including behind the dash is sealed up and rust shielded. Just put the seam sealer down yesterday now on to the front fenders for minimal body work then the roof and I can finally paint it. I am going with Eastwood black primer being they offer a kit that comes with 2 gallons plus the hardener. Might leave it black primer or buy the rat rod flat black paint from eastwood. Any suggestions on how I should go about painting it whether to clear it or not being the paint is urethane and does not require clear coat would be appreciated.

looks like it is comming around good

Yea it is, not bad for 3 or 4 hours a day for 2 months. Had to get rid of all the rust, hopefully it won't come back for a while, rust mort and then the rust shield over it should protect it.

Your car is looking good. I have 2 '68 Newports I'm working on (one's a driver and the other is a complete rebuild project), so it's nice to see how to do the stuff I'm going to be doing as soon as the weather allows.
